Phase 1: Reference Scenarios for Climate Mitigation
Maria Ignacia Benitez, Minister of Natural Environment, announced the results of MAPS Chile’s first phase.
Chile has been significantly affected – both economically and in terms of agricultural yields – by the effects of the concentration of Greenhouse Gasses globally.
In its first phase MAPS Chile involved more than 200 stakeholders from the public, private, NGO, academic and consulting sectors. The work done (research and modelling) is proving to be invaluable to decision-makers in the Chilean government.
In addition to calling on the experts, Chilean students (including architectural and engineering students) were also invited to design potential solutions to mitigate climate change.
